Activist Group and Researchers Seek Sealed Court Records

A group of doctors, researchers, and advocates filed yesterday to support newspapers seeking information about how gas development has impacted public health in Pennsylvania.  The case is attacking the gas industry's secrecy in response to past cases alleging negative health impacts from development.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Observer-Reporter of Washington, PA were already seeking to overturn sealed court records connected to a case brought against four gas industry companies and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection by Stephanie and Chris Hallowich in 2010.  Now the new group is hoping added pressure will help to unseal the records and reveal more about what is known regarding the health implications of living near gas exploration sites.
