21 New Utica Shale Permits Last Week, Moving Closer to 1,200

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has released the latest weekly update on permitting in the Utica shale.  21 new permits were issued in the week ending on March 29.

10 of those permits were for Guernsey County wells, making it the hot spot last week.  5 others were issued for Harrison County, 4 for Noble County, and 1 each for Columbiana and Monroe counties.

There are now 1,186 total permits issued for horizontal drilling in Ohio's Utica shale.  780 wells have been drilled, and the number of producing wells increased by one, to 386.  The Utica rig count is 35.
