AEP Beefing Up Transmission Grid to Meet Utica Shale Needs

From Columbus Business First:
State regulators have approved a $21 million transmission project that American Electric Power Company Inc. will build for major midstream oil and gas companies in eastern Ohio.
AEP Ohio Transmission Co. will rebuild the existing 69-kilovolt transmission line to hold up to 138 kilovolts in Jefferson and Harrison counties ( map). It will provide electric service to Access Midstream Partners (NYSE:ACMP) and M3 Midstream LLC. Both companies are huge players in the oil and gas pipeline and infrastructure industry, especially in Appalachia.
AEP is rebuilding the structures because M3, or Momentum, and Access said they need more load. The Miller Switch-East Amsterdam is expected to be in-service next June.
