Another Slow Holiday Week of Permitting in Ohio's Utica Shale

The latest weekly permitting report on the Utica shale from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources reveals a second straight slow week.  Of course, that isn't surprising since it was also the second straight holiday week.

9 new permits were issued for horizontal drilling last week.  The focal point of drillers was Harrison County, with 4 of the 9 permits (all issued to Chesapeake).  Monroe and Belmont counties each saw 2 new permits and Carroll County was the site for 1.

With another week in the books, there are now 1,743 permits issued for horizontal drilling in Ohio's Utica shale formation.  1,290 wells have been drilled and 713 are producing.  The Utica rig count is now at 49.
