Another Slow Week for Permitting in Utica Shale

Only 4 new permits were issued for Utica shale drilling last week, according to the latest report from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

All four permits were issued to American Energy Utica.  They were for the Collectors S NTG HR 2H, 4H, 6H, and 8H wells in Harrison County.

This slow permitting week comes on the heels of no new permits being issued the week before.  The low oil prices are clearly taking their toll in Ohio's Utica shale.

1,872 total permits have now been issued.  1,442 wells have been drilled, and 845 are producing.  The Utica rig count now stands at 25.
