Governor Kasich Signs Order to Streamline Response to Oil and Gas Emergencies

From Columbus Business First:
Ohio Gov. John Kasich signed an executive order Tuesday to make it easier for state agencies to react to oil and gas-related emergencies.
The order, the governor's fourth of the year, would provide a one-call point of contact for the various state agencies currently tasked with responding to oil and gas leaks and related hazardous substances and other emergencies.
Kasich's order says current rules rely "on a patchwork of notification standards and points of contact" to respond to emergencies. Last year he vetoed a measure that would have limited notifications companies make about the release of some substances, and said he would pursue changes through executive order.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, which regulates the state's oil and gas industry, and the fire marshall division inside the Department of Commerce will adopt rules needed to implement the one-call emergency notification system.
