Latest ODNR Report: Utica Shale Rig Count Drops Again

The rig count in Ohio's Utica shale has been trending up in recent weeks, reaching 16 - the highest level since early March - on the Ohio Department of Natural Resources permitting update for the week ending July 23.  However, that trend changed slightly last week as the rig count declined back to 15.

Four new permits were issued.  All of these were in Jefferson County.  This latest activity brings Ohio's Utica shale to new totals of 2,205 permits issued, 1,764 wells drilled, and 1,350 wells producing.
